Maths activities for Summer 2

Hello everyone,

This blog will hopefully sign post you to a variety of maths resources that you may find useful over the next seven weeks. I have tried to add a selection of maths activities so that people can find what suits them and their current home learning set up. Please remember that alongside these resources, children have access to maths resources on Purple Mash, can complete the Purple Mash daily maths activities and can access the paper based worksheets available from the school office.

BBC Bitesize:

The following links use BBC bitesize. Each one has a video to demonstrate a concept and then a short quiz or activity. We have covered all of these topics in school so children should be able to access this independently.

Square and cube numbers

Prime numbers

Factors

Negative numbers

Fractions This page has links to a number of concepts and activities linked to fractions

Number sequences

Time

Nrich:

Nrich is a website that looks at mathematical thinking and problem solving. This link opens up a range of mathematical problems. Each activity is clearly explained on screen but sometimes can be easier to solve with physical resources (number cards, objects to order or count etc.). It would probably by most beneficial to choose a problem together, discuss it to check understanding or make a plan for solving and gather any resources. Children may then be able to work through the problem independently once they have had some support to get started.

Oak Academy and White Rose:

Some people have been finding it easier to follow more structured lessons. These websites offer lesson sequences on a number of different maths topics. These resources are more similar to a classroom maths lesson and as such will likely require adult input to work through. Lesson sequences and the lessons within those sequences are resourced and logically ordered.
